Took an old cylinder an chucked up an drilled some boost ports , I'm kinda curious as to how it would run? Any info , lmk what u guys think , any power increase for these bastard child years would be good. It was just a wonder if it would help, here's a pic
I've got a clean '85 ... Interesting direction your going here. Definitely post up what you find

You should not have drilled the holes connecting the intake to the crankcase. This modification will not add power, you will loose power. This type of modification does not work on a piston port type intake. The engine may be difficult to start. The crankcase will suck air in through the holes and reed valve before the piston uncovers the intake port, and blow most of it back out through the holes after the piston closes the port. All of the air a crankcase fed two-stroke consumes must pass through the intake port and then be held in the crankcase until the transfer port allow it to flow into the space above the top of the piston.
Thanks jerry, it was an experiment , it was an very old cylinder , on it's last bore, I never used it, yeah jb weld it up lol, it will just be a paper weight haha
this is why we leave it to the guys that know how to build motors. lol
Outside of the box thinking , challenging the status quo.....
Developing something takes initiative
Yes John but it don't hurt to try things ..... Yep out side the box
i know i am just messing, i couldnt do that myself, i know i would screw something up for sure. lol
No worries John , it was a worn out jug, I thought I was on to somthing , hints why I'm building a completely new 88 -90 motor, I still have that new 1987 cylinder if ur still interested?pm me a good offer an lets make a deal
Hey correct I have a brand new weisco piston for a 87. Only have one ring for it. I let it go cheap
Ill let u know abt the piston, is it standard? I know el diablo , Brian is interested in the cylinder for Jerry hall's new 250 power package , it's in the works ....... Can't wait for more info on this
Yea it a standard. Guy bought wrong size and broke the ring. I got it when I bought my 87.
oh thats one of them hybrid cylinders. half reed valve and half piston port. alot of strange ideas back in the day
ya them holes you drilled will allow the case mixture to bypass the reedvalve and blowback through the carb.
Hey guys im new to the site as well as quads. I cudnt fig out how to make my post so I decided to jus doIit here. I blew mine up nd wanna knw some peoples stances on boring. I wanna bore before I rebuil. Thanx for any feedbk
