I think for racing a spot/euro pattern would be preferred.
I've got a euro pattern 50W HID on my LTR and it's F-bombing sweet for high-speed desert and road racing, it's almost a perfect pattern.
Good throw, the sides of the road are well-lit but don't take away from the center, very little spill-over to the sides, they don't blind oncoming traffic (the beam looks pencil-thin, which can make it a little difficult to adjust perfectly), and it's almost like you're running a fog light when it gets dusty (virtually no glare).
In fact, the throw is good enough that I'm comfortable at WOT in high gear with the LTR, I know that I'll have time to stop or avoid whatever is illuminated in front of me.

Any kind of duning or trail riding at night would definitely benefit from a flood only beam.
I've found that the euro pattern and spot pattern are lacking on the dunes and the more technical areas (climbs, sharp turns, etc.)
Here's why:
You're looking all around you at night, and with a spot beam your eyes are adjusted to the high intensity spot directly in front of you...so you can't see anything other than that spot.
If you're in a turn carving the side of a hill with the quad pointed up a little, you're not going to see what's at the bottom of the hill where you're headed until you can get that small, intense spot swung around to it.
Going up a dune, that spot is illuminating the crap out of the air and you could probably spot airliners going by, but directly below you is complete darkness.
Going down, you can clearly see exactly where the bottom of the bowl is at, but the next dune you're about to climb is complete blackness...and that means you have no idea how much speed to carry or if there's something near the top you need to watch out for (like a razorback, witch's eye, dumbazz parked up there without lights) until you've already started your climb.
A flood light distributes an even pattern all around you, side to side and top to bottom, so you have situational awareness because your eyes aren't adjusted to a high intensity beam in just one spot.
It's like going outside on a full moon...not much light at first, but when your eyes get used to the light you swear the sun's still out.
While the moon is still shining, take a Maglite and focus a pinpoint beam way out somewhere...you can clearly see something the size of a bucket 100 yards away, but you can't see anything around it, and you probably can't see your own hand in front of your face now unless you shine the light on it.
If you NEED to see farther than what the flood lights you have are capable of, don't go out and mix a spot light with the flood...that defeats the purpose.
Instead, you need to increase the flood light's lumens or buy another set/bar/whatever.
Increase the overall flood lumens until it'll project far enough for you to see what you need to.

Hey Chris so we've tested these and it looks like they work on AC.

Can you clarify the warranty policy?

In the 1st paragraph of your website it says there is a 1yr parts & manf defect warranty (basically) then in the last paragraph it says: ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO REFUNDS, RETURNS (unless defective on arrival) or EXCHANGES."  which is basically a DOA warranty.

Can you clarify the warranty you offer on these lights?

Thanks

That's about all you can expect from a low price alternative.
Most of them have no warranty to speak of.
Your choice is to pay double or triple for nothing more than a warranty, while essentially getting the same exact thing with name-brand logo sticker on it.
High priced lights, like Rigid and such that use CREE LED's, use the same chips that are in these lights and are thus subject to the same defects.
You could take out the LED's from these lights and wire them into a Rigid and get the same exact performance, durability, reliability, etc. because they actually are the same thing.

The driver board is probably a carbon copy using the same quality components.
When it comes to electronics built in China, that's just how it works...the copying of successful products is rampant and shameless.
Sometimes, it actually IS the same product, and the manufacturer is just supplying it re-badged to a name-brand company, while they still sell the product to others without the stickers on it.
The product is still the same price, but it's not worth it unless you buy in bulk.
A brand-name company can absorb defective products and returns by marking the price up considerably and accepting the loss as nothing more than a quantifiable expenditure, provided they sell enough of the product and the profit allows it.
That's why you see name-brand stuff with warranties sell for so much more, you're giving them a buffer in case the product fails.

Most of these off-brand companies honor their DOA warranties, but they usually do it begrudgingly or in a way that's not economically feasible.
It might take 2-3 weeks for them to get the light, another few weeks to verify that it doesn't work and it's a manufacturer defect, then another few weeks to ship it back, most guys don't want to deal with the wait or hassle of it.
Or, if it costs $40 to ship to China and you have to pay another $40 to get it back, it's not really worth it if the light only costs $100, just buy another light and see if you can use the dead light for something else or see about fixing it somehow.
I doubt you're going to get much in the way of a warranty past a defective product on arrival, and anything past that is going to be more work than you want to commit to.
Dealers like Chris are only a middleman in the transaction, some dealers work directly with the company producing the product while others stay out of it and have you do all the shipping and communication with the company.
So, while Chris may have great customer service and is a great guy to deal with, he can only go so far as the manufacturer will honor.
That's been my experience with warranties pertaining to no-name electronics or clones of other successful products that are mostly manufactured made in Asia.
IMO, the price point of a clone vs. competitive products with warranties is worth it to me...don't expect anything more than a DOA warranty and accept the fact that even brand-name lights aren't any more reliable or represent a higher quality.
There's always a possibility that the manufacturer has better customer service than that, not likely, but possible.

I asked Chris is he had any slim bars 12" or less with 6 of the 10 watt bulbs in a combo beam.  He said they might be available and would look into it when everything settled down as a result of all the tornados.

A  few of us here on the site all chipped in on a test light. Dezsled ordered one and plugged it into his 500.  Im not sure how much testing he has done to date, but so far it appears to be working fine.  he will keep us posted as he has a chance to use it more---I sure hope it works for us.

$5/12"...here's a thread to check out for more info:

http://www.suzukiquadracerhq.com/lt500-general-discussion/chrisg-led-light-arrived/msg19246/#msg19246

I'm going to tentatively say that the LED's will work and need no modification.
They're plug and play, but you'll need to find a way to mount them to your quad, and you also need to be sure that your voltage regulator is working properly.
If you replace the stock lighting coils in your LT with Ricky Stator's 130W coils, you'll have a lot more options.
With 130W, you might be able to light this puppy up if there were a way to mount it to the LT:

Tex, that is partially true, but I don't wait for the mfg to tell me yes or no, if its something I have in stock, and we've tested it, then I send one out, and THEN I go to the mfg.
I've warrantied stuff for guys who haven't even bought from me, I've warrantied a guy who got burned on a group buy in a bum deal, and I warranty stuff like endcaps and brackets and such to guys who never bought them from me in the first place, and ship on my dime, because word of mouth business pays more dividends than a paid sponsorship on a forum.

Here is the message & warranty policy Chris sent me:

You have just been sent a personal message by ChrisG on Suzuki Quadracer HQ.

hey man, sorry for the late reply to your warranty question. I've tried to reply back to your question but all I get is a loading message and it won't ever finish loading. I've tried 3 times now, but with the tornados and clean up here I've been off forums for a couple weeks.

Warranty is this, i will warranty the led's and anything tied to the led's working. I won't warranty the housing, endcaps, brackets, paint/powder etc. and here is why.
I had a guy order one and flipped his jeep, and wanted me to send him a  replacement. Sorry but if you flip or roll your vehicle, not much I can do for you. If it stops working, you bet I got another one on the way.
If you break an endcap, or a bracket and I have spares, I send them for free, even ship them on my dime.
I had a dumbass plug his light into a wall socket because it is "too cold outside", well yeah dumb ass can't warranty that.
I tried to protect myself from the idiots of the world that are looking for someone to fix their screw up.
I have yet to have any issues, and have yet to turn down a guy who needed parts, even the ones who don't buy from me get free replacement parts if I have them, just as a service.
thanks
and again I apologize, had lots of buddies lose their homes and stuff, and life sometimes gets in the way of forums, lol.

Looks like the warranty policy does not cover being a "dumb a$$" but other than that we're good to go :)

Thanks Chris,

Hope things get back to normal sooner than later for you.

He's got a housing that's 2x3 10W LED's, or are you looking for a 1x6 design?

Yes,  Ultimatly I want a bar about the with of the handlebar cross bar pad, say 6 or 7 10 watt bulbs and mounted on top of each front shock two additional 10 watt led's per side.  I think 100 to 110 watts of led light should do well :)
