I agree w/ butta. Don't let just anyone port your motor. Get someone who knows the 500 motor and has ported 100's of 500 motors not just any guy with a dremel.

You're right! ...8131 is the GoGo bar across the street.  +k2

Nobody, but NOBODY can port your cylinder better than the person who designed your pipe.

I wouldn't go that far.
I can't think of one pipe builder that hasn't been beat by his own pipe with someone else porting.
Mike Crooks, Iantomasi, Don Emery.. make more HP in a two stroke then anyone. They don't make pipes.

I remember when Price was making cust cast tripple port cyl's. Then had Jaws design pipes to match the port spec. It made good hp on a dyno 260hp ish 1000cc. But would lay an egg at half track. All of us racing the setup had to come up with the fix. It was both port and pipe mods

I meant Hall himself. Certainly I don't expect Erbe to port a cylinder that his pipe is on better than Don Elmer could. I would like to see if someone could design a better port package, given the same parameters(drag-drag, dune-dune) than HPR with his pipe.  I've seen Jerry fix a fu@king MESS that Kevin Herr did to my cylinders. All I'm saying is do it once, do it RIGHT.
