Water pump

I have a 89 lt250r and water pump is bad bought everything i need put it back together and i have left out the oil seal now is it true i have to buy a new mechanical assembly bc i have to knock the shaft back out and put the oil seal in. Book says it tweaks it and it will leak sorry for the dumbness but if that is true than that sucks

Usually have to replace them.

They say to buy a new but you could try. Make sure the 2 washer go on the bolt have good rubber on them or it will leak every time

dont forget to put a dab of rtv on bolt,

if you press out the shaft without distrubing the mech seal i should be fine.  but if it leaks your gonna have to pull it all apart again, sooo
