i think you want it tig welded, ny someone that knows what they are doing/.
Yeap. If I had access to a TIG machine I would weld it myself.
LTman
Yea it's a solid mount pipe. Doesn't have a flange/coupler/springs. And it won't line up with the top insulator either so after time and time of running her hard it just broke. This is will be the 2nd time I've had it welded back up. Think I'll have some triangulated supports added to it this time.
you can braze it chuck, thats a quick fix that will last for a few, and you can do it with a propane torch.
One more vote for brazing it... Less heat is better.
Also adjust the one mount so there is no stress/pressure on it so it won't be binding and fail again
Looking good chuckie

Ok I'll see about finding someone to braise it.
It's only got the one mount and I'm not sure how I'd go about moving it so it lined up. I've been meaning to try and make a pipe support thing but always forget to.
The solid welded flange was just a bad idea from PSI. Even their ATC and TRX pipes at the time were solid welded at the flange.
I'll figure something up
Frankenstein is alive and well?
Heinz is more than well
Let's just say it's going to handle a LOT better VERY soon
Really happy you got the JP frame.
You putting a hond front end on it
Make that frame a hybrid man! Nice acquisition!!

It's for sure going to be a hybrid. Still a 'Heinz' but not THE Heinz. Still gunna build another frame for Heinz 87 though

It's a 92 JP Outlaw TRX based chassis. Provisions for a CR500 link but my swinger is a +2 no-link set up. Shock is a no-link built shock. It'll be TRX front to rear
Ok the initial plan is back on LOL Throwing the 265 into this chassis as soon as it gets to Louisiana after I move back
hurry up and bring it to sand dunes
I just got back from Coo's Bay,,, Glamis will be next year! Lol
Chuck you scored a jp frame. Nice.
Chuck you scored a jp frame. Nice.
Hell yea man! Just gotta get it 2000 miles to Louisiana so I can get it all finished up LOL
I am going there next month, where's it at I will pick it up and bring it to my house. Lol
It's still in the Portland/Gresham area
Well the JP is home,,,,, but I got a TRX250R engine and pair of ported cylinders for free (as well as a stock 88 TRX chassis) so it'll be a Honda build now. I'll save me pennies up to get Carl to build me an LT chassis. Call it "Weapon C",,,,,,,,, eventually lmao.
I've made some progress on getting my fuel injection system together. Pretty much have it all figured out but am limited on the toy found between bills, travel, and buying engine parts for my 300ZX.
I decided to update the thread with some fresh pictures of Heinz. See if y'all can spot all the differences between the last update pictures lol

I haven't had much time to get out and ride with work and life going on; now with being the manager and head mechanic of a shop it's been soaking up every bit of my time. Massive suckage. I've had a new clutch cable sitting in my car for almost a month now and just haven't had time to install it :-/
Hey chuckle, those front shocks look familiar! How are they working for ya?

They are doing pretty well!!! I was surprised that they are actually fairly close to my weight and all with the Zilla arms on it. And they work PERFECT with the Zilla arms as well, since they are a hair longer than stock ya know?
Man, I'm really glad they worked out for ya.
