What's better to run with stock jetting 32:1,36:1 or 40:1

Your jetting (stock or not) should not dictate what fuel / oil ratio you use. But to answer your question, I would run 32:1 or even 26:1.

Right now I run 40:1 but I think it's not enough oil I'm think about 32:1

can't stress enough about learning to properly jet your bike.  running less oil to gas isn't always a death sentence to your motor so long as it's jetted for it.  So 40:1 can be fine so long as it's a properly jetted for it.

I run stock jetting on my rebuilt  85 lt250r and I run 32:1 amsoil dominator .  Mixed in tuff jug with 93 octain . starts great idles great and runs great. The plug color is great as well I have 20 hours on motor. From putting around with my kid on it to me alone riding it like it was intended to be rode still on same spark plug as well. the manual says 32: 1 why would anyone  change from that if they are still running stock jetting ?

Sweet man that's what I do I don't ride hard at all mine starts up and idles perfect and I have good plug color, I'm rebuilding in the winter I have 125psi.

I run it very hard when i am by myself. Also i have rebuilt my carb and verified that it was stock jetting. It was not stock jetting from previous owner. I dont assume anything is correct unless i  check myself. I was told it was rebuilt when i got it. I have seen many of rattle can rebuilds in my day. i cringe every time i hear that. 20 minites later it burned as hole  in  piston from bad crank seal and jetting was lean enough to get the job done even if the crank seal would have been good with me mixing at 32:1

By the way gage garman what winter are you referring to ?winter is over for this year. Also just an FYI if you and your uncle dont feel comfortable enough to  rebuild that 250 there's no shame in that. people know different things.  keep saving.  Mine cost $400 for someone else to do because i  didn't want to take the time after working 70 hours a week every week. That $400 was his labor and new piston, rod, all bearings and all seals and gaskets reed petal and machine work not just jug bore. All i had to do was take it off his bench put the new carb boot on it and the carb i rebuilt put it back on quad and smile. Everybody's circumstances are different.  For me there isn't enough hours in any given day so i paid someone else. I see you ask a lot of questions thats how people learn.

All you ever wanted to know about oil ratios has been cover in many of the discussions on this forum,...........Please take some time and do some searching and you will learn more than you will need to know about this topic.   I know I have covered it in depth more than once and just do not have the time to answer the same 20 questions every time a new member joins our forum.   ;D
