By the way gage garman what winter are you referring to ?winter is over for this year. Also just an FYI if you and your uncle dont feel comfortable enough to  rebuild that 250 there's no shame in that. people know different things.  keep saving.  Mine cost $400 for someone else to do because i  didn't want to take the time after working 70 hours a week every week. That $400 was his labor and new piston, rod, all bearings and all seals and gaskets reed petal and machine work not just jug bore. All i had to do was take it off his bench put the new carb boot on it and the carb i rebuilt put it back on quad and smile. Everybody's circumstances are different.  For me there isn't enough hours in any given day so i paid someone else. I see you ask a lot of questions thats how people learn.
