CT racing build

I'm currently having my motor built by CT racing. I was just wondering if anyone has seen/heard anything on what to expect from it? Thanks!

I haven't heard anything negative about CT Racing except that their outlaw pipe gets hot on your left foot.

Well I'm having the WHOLE motor rebuilt but Allen told me to expect between 1,200 and 1,500

CT does good work, the problem with the Zillas and 250's is they have not updated, there porting and pipes with the evolution of the current technology for them. As for the 450's thats whats new so of course there up to date on that technology. There pipe design and port maps for quadracers are nearly 20 years old. The few builders that do a lot of zillas will extract quite a bit more usable power from the motor than CT will For about the same price.
If brains were gasoline, you couldn't power a **** ant's go-cart 2 laps around a cheerio.

Ohhh...I see what you're saying! that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the input man! I'm still new to the quadracers, I've been on the 450 train for a while and wanted to try something new so I thought'd I'd go 2 stroke! Picked the lt500 so any info is greatly appreciated!!!

Have one of the builders here do the motor and you will have an animal, that will smoke any quad you come up against and still be reliable.

my buddy had his lt250 done by him. cylinder,head,reeds,carb,and pipe.i think it was like $1500. that thing was slooowwww. i would never use them. i would really try to get it back

I appreciate the input but I'm just gonna stick this one out. Once it's done I'll be able to give you guys a first hand review of the bike  :) and I'll go from there

Allen Knowles doesn't do the porting he has a few hired young bucks tearing up your cylinder giving you his 1990 port job, not trying to be negative its just we have a few builders here that still spend time on developing better reliable power for your LT500 than getting a generic port job.

X2  Your motor should stay together pretty decently but it just will not be the most powerful it could be.

I had a buddy who ran a CT 500 with their outlaw pipe and he liked it but we switched him up to a Paul turner, V-2 reeds, a dry filter, and the 85/86 OEM clutch springs and he likes it much better.  I think it does have some CT porting on it but not 100% sur eon that. 

I can say it's a strong runner for not a lot of $$$ in to the bike.

Well I had my CT build out this weekend in Glamis. First off it ran great and went on some long rides :) 2nd it didnt lose a race up the hills to anyone! I didnt even hit the whoops hard just simply rolled through them in 3rd. A modded DS650 and some 450's would get a huge 1/3 of a hill head start and I'd still end up beating them by an easy 4 bike lengths! So I'd say the bike is put together pretty well(so far) and performs great...maybe it's only because I'm a 540 idk.

Nothing's better than beating 4 strokes especially when you give em a head start!

Me to. I have an old ct ported cylinder and Q pipe,works nice.
 Used to/still do have the ct pipe no top end like the Q pipe but, great low and mid range.

You lose some bottom end, mid is good and top end rips.

i have a CT top end and the exhaust port is huge, it has other porting too, but the exhaust port is huge.
did i say that already, lol

Its been years since I worked at ct but just so you guys know allen does not always have his young bucks do the porting,especially if your buds with him,he knows his **** and will hook you up ,I worked for him straight out of high school and have never seen anything they have built even come close to being slow,if you want a drag motor he can build it but they usually go in the direction of building a motor that has a broad easy to ride torquey power to it ,and damn reliable not to mention fast,either way theres always someone faster when it comes to dragging most money usually wins that,although I am thinking of having jerry build my zilla sometime soon

When Allen was doing the work it was great, I had the 2nd, 88 Trx250R with an 86 Cr500 motor he built. It is still the most evil quad or sled i've ridden. It was an Alky duner.
