Yestorday i went and scored two 250s! One is a 90 and is completely torn apart and the other is an 86 that threw a chain and put a little hole in the cases. Im going to be keeping the 90 and im gonna be doing a lot of stuff to it. I wanna shearer pipe it, new reed cage, a pwk39 or a 38, port it to match the pipe and oring the head, squish fixed, maybe a little head work. Anyone know where to get some v2s or are they all gone? If you cant get v2s anymore are v3s still decent reeds? Is anyone making an aluminum air box? If anyone is can you get me a price for one? Im tired of these melted boxes. And anyone know carls generally turn around time for a cylinder and head? Also if anyone has a chrome shearer pipe with the heat shield in the right place that they wanna sell pm me its hard to bite the bullet and buy a new shearer pipe. Thanks guys and i hope the pictures show up ive been gone for awhile but im back i will keep you guys updated thanks again
Carl can make the v 3s run as good as the v2s he said. But Tudors performance has V2s I just got a set from them for 172$ shipped to my house. Carl just done my top end and he quoted me 2 months and got it done in a month and a half. I just bought a brand new Shearer pipe from Matt a few months ago. With chrome also with heat shield and its perfect. The heat shield is in the right place. That problem with his heat shield is fixed now. New and chromed with heat shield cost me 683$. Pretty high but well worth every penny.
That is a good deal right there.
carl is good with his prices and can make the 250s really scream, also if u wana save acpl bucks, ive heard the dyno port pipe works vary well with carls porting too
Nice find bud!! Correct me if Im wrong but didn't me and you wanna meet up and ride at trevorton..
Thanks zilla but i think i would regret it id rather go for the best of the best the first time. And yep damgerous thats me i ended up selling the 87 because i found a deal on a trans am i couldnt pass up. The 86 will probably end up getting sold to my friend when i get the 90 going. And im not sure when im gonna get work done by carl im just so excited i wanna get this 90 going and ride it asap. I might buy another jug and have him do that one or il just wait until the winter and run a carl topend next season.
Sweet deal bud Im glad you replaced the 87 and got yourself a trans am!

We gotta ride that place eventually still!
$500 bucks good deal. I will be riding at trevorton next week. bringing the kx500 and the lt500.
The dyno port and ftz in frame drag pipe can make 2 to 3 more horse power then the shearer pipe .But the end factor is the Shearers over rev.It hold holds on to the horsepower 2,100 more rpms then the 2 other pipes.
Which one of those three pipes hits the hardest down low? I run probably half tight trails and half wide open. And hopefully will be hitting the coal hills so il also need it up top

You want huge low and a top end hit too? LOL
A guy can only wish right?

il probably just end up going shearer
I have the shearer on mine, bottom isn't there but it holds pretty good midrange, and really chit n gets up high
The Shearer will hit more violently in the mid and makes the numbers people like to see, But the dynoport and FTZ have a broader smoother torque curve that makes more a bit more power around the 5-6k mark. Im thinking of trying my Trinity pipe that has a very similar profile to the dynoport with my Carl motor to see how it runs. I'll give up a little power at 8k for some more torque coming out of the turns.
Can anybody tell me whats the difference between these two cranks? They both go to lts and the one with the thicker crank lobes says dob5 and the other one says dob 7 i thought the thicker lobed one looked like a hot rods crank but the rod dosent say hot rods on it. Can anyone help me out there? Thanks
The crank with the holes in the webs is an 87 and the other is a 88-92. A little bit less rotating mass than the 88-92.
We should have a SQHQ ride at Trevorton!!!
I'd be into that ride. only 4.5 hour drive for me. All the other QR rides are 13 hours plus.
I had some some trail port on my Scp pipe and it ran well on the lowend.I had no problem with the tight trails were I ride. But now I got a good port job so I don't know where my power is going to be at now. But I used the stock carb with my pipe I say that has effect with better low then the bigger carbs. Will let you know after I get off work tomorrow when I go wot for the first time.
You got that sdrawkcab Gil.
The 87 is the full circle. The 88-92 has holes in it.

I agree with LT250RWV. If you want more bottom end, you should stick with a smaller carb. Also, those are both OEM rods.
I'm also like 5 hours away.

But probably worth it!

You got me, too late on a sunday evening for tech help from me.
Thanks guys! Got all my gaskets and seals and piston ordered. Honed out my cylinder today so it is ready to go. And which crank would you run? I would think the 87 crank with the less mass would rev up quicker but the 88-92 crank would be more sturdy. Both of them are in spec no up and down play what so ever
And a ride up there would be awesome! Im pretty sure grk isent that far from there either. Im like a 2 hour ride from there
