YFZ450 Crank - LT500R Mod
« on: December 29, 2012, 02:30:53 pm »
It probably wont work.  :))

YFZ450 (Early 04-05) Left
LT500R Right

Shows how over-square and short stroke the high performance 4 stroke 450's are. Also is an indication on how much the LT500R is a beast.
Ain't ever seen it......but I have heard it.

Not really the stroke its more like the length of the rod being how short the cylinder is on the yfz.

If only the 500 had a smaller stroke would be able to rev way higher.

I think advancements in metalurgy should allow engineers to re-design the crankshaft & connecting rod using lighter stronger materials to let the big 500 rev up higher than 9000 RPM.

stock raptor 700 revs to 9000 as well and is a larger thumper. so i agree that zilla can be made to rev higher.

Anyone have any input about using the CR500 rod to fix(help) the bad rod angle of the Lt500?

Hey guys. The CR500R rod is 144mm long, and the KX500 rod is 145mm long. Not really worth doing. I got some contacts in case anyone wants to spend some major cheese and have some made...
