DCS6.1 Dyno Testing 04-29-14
« on: May 01, 2014, 05:52:07 am »
I will repost when I  drf files, these were sent Jpeg, again the engine was large reed 87, bore 87m, reed Vforce 2, carb 42mm, 1990s porting, compression 165, gearing 14/44, tires 20", fuel VP12 mixed @ 30 to 1 w/927, no airbox 9" K&N filter, We pulled an average of 65 HP and 50 ft lbs of torque on a low compression engine, No smoke and mirrors, No Butt Dynos, Just Time and refining to get a good all around pipe made.  FYI Dale Fry and I used Bennis Dyno and know the numbers are real from our last testing a while back. Now here is some jetting information on this pipe using Mukuni 42 , we went from a R-4 to R-3 Needle Jet, OEM needle  3rd clip, 35 pilot, 430 main, our dyno runs on 04-02-14 had the stock needle jet (R-4) 45 pilot and 440 main which peeked at 62 to 63 HP. (Pulled The Main Out to double check)

what is the difference between the two charts?

And why is there a dip in the second graph? doesn't look like the a/f changes but there is a big dip.

Why do these graphs look so much different then all the others you've posted?

They are Jpeg, soon as I get DRF files, I will repost them in that format, also I would like to show DCS-4, 5, 6 and 6.1 on one sheet, should be up later on tonight.

give rpm and not mph.

Because there is a dip around 52mph in most of the graphes but the one is lower. just trying to figure it out, maybe lack of traction or what?

They are done over MPH not RPM.

I'd like to see them compared over RPM.

Good numbers!

My dyno graph has the same dip between 7-8k RPM.

Mitch is the change in power after the peak due to using a main jet that is 11 sizes smaller or due to a change made to the pipe???

Jerry, when Bennie did the testing on the DCS-6, he likes to use that O2 Sensor to try to get the A/F correct, we noticed the lower rpm was way lean, tried to adjust with needle clip and pilot but just could not get the A/f right, I think I e mailed you on this, and called Sudco, I was stuck using the OEM needle but went with a R-3 needle jet, clip in 3 rd, 35 pilot, I do think the  richer needle jet was the trick, I myself was blown away that we ended up at 330 main, I a betting on a more agresssive porting that the main would jump up in size, another factor  like to dyno would be to run a 50/50 race -gas due to the 165 compression and see where the numbers go

Looks like that 'turbo Boost" Cliff I was feeling with the V-1.

Bike would "Rev to the Moon" like it had turbo boost but the power would just fall off.

Nice job Mitch, their looking good in comparison.

Cool stuff.
Mitch could you pull up WinPep and graph 4 runs for us and post it?

LT500-87_090 Q2.drf
LT500-87-QV2_025.drf
LT500-87-DCS-6_024.drf
LT500-87-DCS-6.1.drf

Also the correction factor jumps from STD to SAE on other posts. Could you set it to SAE for this graph.
I'd like to see them all on one and not have to jump around. Plus all pipes should be running the same jetting if you post this graph.
That way we have a real "No Smoke and Mirrors No Butt Dyno"
Your pipe does look to make 4 hp more. Thats awesome, nice work.

Maybe lost in the shuffle but your dyno pull "LT500-87-DCS-6_024.drf" looks like it made more power then "LT500-87-DCS-6_023.drf" that you used for this overlay. The HP gap won't be as big with LT500-87-DCS-6_024.drf

Jerry mentioned a dramatic jetting change from the other runs to the new run.
