Talk about a small opening to let air in.

And you plan on sealing it up? Where will it get air to feed the engine?

The opening is 5''x7'' plenty big to get the filter in and out there is and 1 1/4 '' gap all the way around the filter
The tub from the carb is 2 1/2''
The lid is not going to seal up comply + im going to dill some air holes
All the aluminum is 1/16''

5x7 is a tiny hole to let air in. then putting a lid on there will make the hole even smaller.

plus it looks like the grab bar function is pretty much useless now.

The air box is crap.
The tiny opening limits air flow. So why have a huge filter when you put a small opening on it?
The longer the tubing, the worse your throttle response will be.
It has been proven many times, a pod attached to the carb makes more power than an air box.
On a stock banshee with pipes, going from air box without a lid to pods had more power everywhere and had 3hp more.

The grab bar function is useless now as this ugly air box takes up all the space.

Oh and the welds look like crap.

Let see some comparison then
Its not a banshee  P*
I like helpful advice but your not giving any

I would bet you a doughnut if you run a much larger tube from airbox to back of carb you will pick up power. For instance on a cr 85 powered quad going from pod on the back of the carb, I had to use a tapered silicone boot to run the same pod filter I used to run on my hybrid. After I didn't have to jet the bike down and loose power unlike all the other smaller tube size stuff I used, now on a Hybrid a couple jets is only a couple percent hp loss, on the cr85 it was magnified so 3 jets was like being down 6 hp.

The cfm measure you need is instant and turbulent, not constant and steady hence a larger diameter to overcome the restriction on the walls.

What kind of donuts u like lol
I was going to go with 3'' but couldnt get it to clear the linkage
2 1/2 '' is largist tub that i could get to clear
The I.D of pipe and the large end carb are the same
I was thinking of runing anther tub around the other side of the linkage but didnt but still might
Id like to keep the same power as before but i got to protected my engine
Ive not tested this yet ben working ot and got to watch baby in ev
what size tub do u recommend if i didnt have clearace problems
Thanks for the input

I'd say at least 3" maybe up to 3 1/2. not sure its more of a trial thing. But with that kinda length its deffinatly restricted.

Zillafreak, that is awesome fab work. But can you try to be a little more supportive of some of the others efforts? Please? I'm sure he is trying his best  :)

LTman, what makes you require an air box?

Could you fab up a shroud for a pod filter that way it's protected from mud without the power penalty?

Pods are for desert use only.  If ran in the mud or dust you will be rebuilding after one day.  Nice fab work for a guy doing it yourself LT👍🏻
