Zilla at Coos Bay - 7 or 8 ft of air! (then bailed)
« on: August 30, 2013, 12:39:14 pm »
Spent a long weekend down at Coos Bay, OR riding the dunes in July on my Zilla along with my cousin (also on a zilla) and some friends. First time I've tried jumping my zilla more than about a foot.  Ended up getting way more air on the last one than I had expected  :o and couldn't stick the landing (see end of the vid for that one).

No serious injurys, luckily. My lower back got a little bruised, cause that's what hit the ground first, but I rolled pretty well out of it.  Bike didn't get to messed up, just a couple little things.  The left side steering arm, where the tie rod attaches to the spindle, got bent up almost 90 degrees, from the front wheel dragging in the sand as it rolled. Steering was all screwy after that, but still ridable. Also the headlight cage got really bent over.  Other than that, everything else was still ok. I straightened out the headlight cage with a rubber mallet when I got home, and the little steering arm is pretty easily replaced. Could have been a lot worse!

I just had a flashback of me going off a dune & my chest hitting the gas tank & breaking everything (gas tank & a rib or two). These things are gonna kill me yet.
