HPR 19 or Dr Q V2???
« on: March 16, 2014, 07:22:21 pm »
Im buying a new pipe I want the opinions on which pipe would be best buy.  I ride trails and want to know which is best for low/mid range.  Help me make up my mind.  I want the hpr 19 but I like the finish of the V2 so I need to know what the differences are and which is best for me.

Here's a line up of some pipes available, l-r DCS4, Q v2, Qv1, HPR19

The last three are hi rpm power pipes, the DCS4 hops on the pipe abit sooner... I don't have the dyno chart atm. Hopefully someone can post it... Mitch?

I have one and it does hop on the pipe earlier. I think Mitch still has a used unplated one for sale....

I keep the rpms up while riding will that help these high rev pipe perform well for trail riding?  I just didn't wanna spend big $ to have it not perform how I want it.

I'm far from an expert but I have ridden with an fmf, hpr19 and dcs4

Bottom end / mid - fmf
Mid / top end - hpr19
In between - dcs4

This only opinion, others may feel differently. Ken500R has a DCS4 maybe he can give his impressions on how it performs.

Hopefully others will share their impressions of how these pipes perform...

I had a q v1.  On the flats or hard pack it flat rips.  I only dune, so I got a hpr.  I love it the power is great and as kennerz said shift recovery is better.  For trails I would pick any of the top 3. You will be happy.

I picked my zilla up in Dec so idk if it has port work or not.  It has v force 3 reeds, PT pipe with carb jetted for pipe.  That's about all I know about it without ripping it apart and measuring.

I included Mitch's DCS4 because it is a very good pipe. The videos show just how strong a performer it is. On the trails I'd bet you could get in and out of the trees quicker, those top end pipes perform best when you get to stretch it legs and and let er rip! I prefer the HPR19 for all out performance. I was there at both dyno testing days and the fishermans Zilla ripped all the others a new a hole.

Dez, has a raw DCS-4 for sale, I have left it is a plated DCS-4 pipe and silencer and was custom mounted to my frame, I had a Aluminum six pack rack grab bar so it might fit a lil off on OEM quads.

Hurry up and get done rearranging your shop, dynoing will suck worse being sweaty and coated with 927/vp c12 exhaust in the summer heat.

Honestly... for real trails?  The PT pipe or the FMF is perfect with a little port work. No need to spend money when you have whats best for your situation.  I'm sure the pipes above preform in open areas.... just not well suited for trails.

My Q v1 does good in tight trails and makes climbing long hills a breeze because the power just keeps coming without the need to shift. Supposedly the v2 has more low and mid range with not as much over rev as the v1. I would think that would make it a good all around performer. Nothing like hitting an open section of trails and leaving the other atv's sitting still and keeping pace with and out running some dirt bikes.
