Hello,
I have a problem that I need some help with.
I just got my Zilla out for winter riding. (Have been on the CR5)
It has not been run all summer. I wanted to go thru things real well and maybe get it to run a little better than it has.(more like the CR.)
After several jetting changes, I found my Q-Pipe all plugged-up back at the back where it gets small before the silencer. I have had this happen before. Bought the pipe in early 2008. After I started to re-dial it in, I noticed that it would not run clean untill after I turned my headlight on. W.T.F.?
2ND question: Is this 100LL I'm using causing excessive carbon? Or is it the 927? It does not seem to abnormally carbon up near the front of the pipe or cylinder.

Well, it won't start now. My leg is killing me and I have a head ache from thinking about this thing! I will have to drink something to put the "Merry" back into Christmas. I am supposed to be able to fix this quad, in the woods, with minimum tools, and I am at home in my own garage and I still can't get it to fire!
I took it out for a ride on a bad weather day. It had to follow the Tahoe on an open trailer, 2 hrs. in heavy wet salt slush/spray. 13* F. to get to where we ride. When I got there, it wouldn't start. Usually starts on just a couple of kicks with a B.J.
After I have cleaned up all my electrical connections, I now have a nice crisp blue spark at the plug. Carb. is clean, warm and happy. Reeds good. Compression is up. Mag key and stator pick-up in good shape visually. Bike was really running well in this foul weather until now, as long as I had the headlight switch in the on position. Strange indeed.

some times when my bike has set a long time i got to prime it i put some gas down the plug hole

Nice to hear from you. I have primed it. Not even a spit.
I have a cabin at Ashland reserved for the first week end in April.
May be moving reservation to the second week end?

Boyesen cage. I ported my old one I had and would like to get another one. I dont need the reeds just the cage.

I don't know if you checked the jetting out but when it gets cold the ole two strokes like to be fattened up a bit. I'll look around for intakes. It may take a few days though. Merry Christmas quad freaks.

Jetting is fat for winter. I have had a few excellent rides with this quad recently. It was really running well after I cleaned the carbon out of my pipe back where it gets small by the silencer. Then the snow and ice came and I was trying out some new tire chain set-ups with great success. Now I find myself in a state that I have never been in. Nice spark at plug. Carb seemed dialed before I froze it. Nothing has changed inside it.
Today, my plan is to mix up some fresh fuel and have my neighbor come pull me down the road. I need to hear this thing at least spit a little bit so I know how to continue. I do feel that my problem was spark related the day I first had any problems.

alright, cant wait to here from you, its been a while. sure would like to meet up with you guys in wellsville, i can go just about any wekend.
i havent even rode any of my 2 strokes this year, been playing on the can am and the king quad. hit me up. i will come out and kick that zilla over for you.
but how did it go today, any luck with it running.

All is well!
Plugged / restricted exhaust. Neighbor pulled me down the driveway and it built up some pressure enough to push some chunks of carbon out and she fired right up and ran just as well as it has been(with the light switch on). When I got back to the house, after a small ride, I free revved it a couple of times (which I never do) and a whole bunch more pieces where spraying out on the driveway. I need to get this pipe serviced! A month ago I was in there chipping away at that 6 year old **** and did not do a thorough enough job and now some larger chunks that I have disturbed are finding there way free and plugging up the small passage way after that huge cone and before the silencer. I have always payed attention to the carbon in the front of the pipe but never have really given much thought about a carbon problem all the way back at the rear! It really is a difficult task for me to try and get in there and get that stuff out. It sure did cause me a lot of grief last week, but I think it was a reminder, or a lesson for me, that friends and family and religion, are more important than that old carboned-up non-running Zilla in the garage. Yea right.

Big hill climbing ride tomorrow. I am loaded up and ready to go. 16 hours to spare!

I would appreciate very much any thoughts on carbon build up.
Below 32 degrees= 3.5 gals. 100LL with 1.5 gals. pump premium to 20 oz. 927. Squish fixed and head is cut and O-ringed.
