Need a bit of help and advise for my Zilla
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:26:51 am »
Ok well first off great to be back on lt hq, you guys have been great so far.

To my question i gess, I got a mint zilla with most of the mods that are avilable for the chassi and looks departmant. Havent tuched much on the engine yet.

After my last ride my stator fell apart with your guys help i got it all back together and running again thanks for that!

On my rid yesterday, i had all sorts of minor issues, rear sprocket bolts coming loose vent cap thingy casing fuel starvation... It ended up being a bad little billet vent cap thing, now it drives nice again. The front shocks also seem more sacked and leak a tiny bit now, can i rebuild them?

The sprocket hub is all jacked up i think it never had the right unit on there as non of the 87-90 sprockets i bought ever fit right, making the bolts come loose all the time

Even worse now just realized after swaping out my rear wheel to honda patter with tusk hubs... that my rear axle witch looks almost perfectly new (not even a rock nik in it) omg she is bent at the very outside nearest the wheel hub splines!

I looked and cant find any decent price replacements that are new anywhere is it a 40mm axle?

Can i put a differenet axle? if i had the money id just get a 40mm jj&a banshee axle and new swing arm, but i just put a bunch $$ into my oem setup with the hubs, carrier rotor and sbtd brake stay....on or am i in trouble finding a aftermarket oem replacment?

You can sometimes have your axle straightened depending how bad it is.Bent my durablue near the end and my local shop straightened it for about $85.
Can,t fix stupid.:)

i have 2 spare OEM axles in my garage right now that need a home! lol.

One isn't very pretty and the other is okay.  been awhile since i looked at them.

Not sure about the OEM MM size.

I have a few sprocket hubs including 1 that i got from a member here that assured me the splines were tight.  They weren't.

Anyway, my plan is to buy a new swinger once i get moved to my new house and go with the banshee rear end.

Thanks Rainman I will look into that, if i cant find a faster solution, i live in a oil rig supply town that has lots of equiptment but not many people that know how to use the machines... Nor want to take on such small projects. I do have a 50t press but i wouldnt even know where to start as the bend is minor, but you can feel it more on the paved roads especally with the wider hubs now attached!

Q2W that seem's like the best way to go, i already put about $500 cdn in my damb oem swing arm, at first i just wanted it all oem looking, but now i just want to be able to ride the damb thing and be able to get parts.

Both my sprocket and brake hub arent snug and no one makes one.  Thought about having one made but eh.   Rather have a round style carrier with infinite aftermarket options.

Ya ok so i decided to, try and find someone that can tweek the one side back for under 100 bucks for now.

And start saving for a new setup with a jj&a banshee axle. I think we can salvage the shock but what linkage is needed to make it all work?

And i must do the bump steer mod for sure too! Is it ok to modifiy the stem or is it better to make a new spindle arm, and what way higher or lower?

Thanks a bunch for the help  D?

I've got OEM axles in Canada. I've also got swingers that are setup for a banshee axle and carrier. As well as some jj&a play axles. If your interested let me know. You do not need to change your shock linkage with the setups I have. They use OEM shock setup and bolt right in.
