New guy here with a 91 250R
« on: August 29, 2014, 06:59:53 pm »
Hey guys, I recently got this bike in trade for a $300 jet ski haha. I was running rough, leaking coolant and I'll get to that part in a minute. The quad has some kind of mid pipe that is slipping my mind right now, works suspension all the way around, pro taper bars, fake beadlock wheels (if anyone knows the real name it would be awesome to know) Razr tires, ignition system, DG bumper. I had about a hour on it and the piston decided it was time to melt so I replaced it with a wiseco one and all new gaskets up top. After another hour I noticed coolant still leaking, oil leaking from the trans by the drive sprocket and it always took forever to get it to start. I decided to take the carb apart and rebuild it. Once I opened it up I discovered a nail (yes a nail) was used as the float pin, I tapped on it and poof, snapped the ear off. So all at one I put new water pump seal, transmission seal, and a keihin 35mm pwk carb on it. It starts on the second kick every time and runs like a bat out of hell. The fenders have been replaced so they were 3 different shades of yellow and pretty tore up so for grins I sprayed them black (gonna replace very soon) just to see what it looks like. The plan is to tear it down to the frame this winter winter and do it in all black. I've creeped the forum for awhile and am now saying hi. Only real plans are to find a silencer for it. I have a couple questions if you guys don't mind. There's a sticker on the swingarm that says  RPS-richter performance system, is that the stock swing arm? Also the A arms are white and don't look factory, any ideas? Thanks guys!

That thing needs a lotta love, but looks like its worth rebuilding. Cant beat the price. Those look like OMF wheels but I could be wrong. Welcome to the site,  I'm pretty new here too.
