So just to preface, I have been a full on Honda 250r guy for last 10 years. Last week I came across a basket case lt and decided I was ready for a new challenge.
Quad is a pure east coast rocky trail banged up mess but it has decent bones on it. At one point in time it was setup for circle track racing. I have some questions below that I would like some details on if you can help I would appreciate it.
My plan for the quad is a reliable 45hp trail machine.
I don't know anything about the motor but it ran ok and had good compression.
the guy just put a brand new 34mm pj carb on it. He took off a 38mm Keihen that had a bad slide.
Has aftermarket a arms. Can anyone tell from the pics who manufactured them.
Shocks are pep all around but the fronts have zero damping in them. Is that a circle track thing or do you think they are blown out? The front shocks also seem too long. When I lift the front end up the springs contact the inside of the a arm.. The rear shock has damping but I have no clue what it is sprung or valved for.
It also has a pep steering stabilizer which I'm hopeful is in good working condition.
Came with an lrd pipe but the previous owner welded the slip joint for some reason. The guy I bought it from put a fmf fatty on it at some point. Is the lrd worth me reworking or using as is vs the fatty?
Has a cool head on it with about 175psi compression right now. Are the cool heads a good upgrade for the lt or just for show?
I have a lot to do but after watching a few dr q videos I am very confident that this will be fun and worthwhile.

A arms look to me like full flight.
10 digit on vin will tell you year .
Thanks. Ill look at the vin tonight and see what i can pull off the tag. The shocks measure 15 3/8 center to center. Does that make sense? Plus they are totally blown out.
A-arms are JP Racing or early Lone Star... The later JP versions you could adjust the camber at the ball joint, early you could not.
Of course .I just looked at my a arms I got with my outlaw frame and yes they look the same.
Well im getting a little frustrated already with my purchase.
Currently on 69mm piston and i would like to freshen it up. Is it time to resleeve?
Pep front shocks are blown out. Probably a $500 repair.
Frame has cracks all over it. I tried to get a serial # from the frame but the powercoat is so
Thick that i cannot read it. I am looking for a replacement.
Rear disc is tweaked just enough to cause problems.
I am up in the air now over parting it out or going all in.
I pm’d iceracer to get Some guidance on the engine once i hear back from him i will make my decision.
Well hopefully you don't part it out but if do is be interested in the front shocks and possibly a arms.

These things are a labor of love and can be addicting if allowed to do so. Not sure where you're at with the project but you have an 88-90 machine.
Have you considered welding the cracks?
