I have an 85 frame with 87 motor. Took a little trimming to make it work, and the pipe is a left bend one.

Anyways.  I like those heel guards.  I could use a set for the dunes to help keep my feet outta the tire.  Not that it's happened, but I'd like to keep it that way lol.

Any idea where to pick up a set?  Searching has yielded 0 results.

I am not positive if the 85 and 86 models came with the heel gaurds. My best suggestion would be craigslist, if u see a quad for sale ask them if they would be willing to sell the gaurds. I don't think I would be interested in parting with mine, they probably won't go on the quad but I have a complete 92 all orriginal parts are with it so I don't really want to split stuff up.

I think they only came on 91-92. I had them on my 92 but threw them away like an idiot. Now I see people all over looking for them.

thanks for the compliments. the gussets did turn out real nicely. i later on found out that a few were in not so great spots, i mounted my new nerf bars and had to grind and touchup the powdercoat with some spray paint. cant tell one bit but i didnt like grinding on a fresh frame. here is a link to my build thread. the bike is done. well for now. always more stuff to add right. lol.

From what I understand they are back in business. The daughter re-opned it.
