shearer pipes
« on: June 03, 2015, 09:30:52 pm »
So my shearer pipe has horrible fitment on the flange part. IM kind of pissed but dont want to give bad reviews until i get a chance to talk with matt about it but.... the Flange holes were off on my stock 87 jug, reemed them out to fit. Now the flange wont even fit in the damn pipe, even without the orings on the flange! also tried sanding inside the pipe aggressavily!  I was supposed to go riding this weekend, but so much for that! I sure as hell expected alot more.. (took 3-4 months to get my pipe shipped. Only time I even got an update is when I called him! I hardly knew of what was going on. he said he would give me a call before it went out to the chromer and he didnt! I called him probalby once a month to get an update and everytime I would get the same bull **** story. I will get started on it this week.... Almost sounded like he forgot he even had to build me a pipe... Called him up and everytime I asked about my pipe he said "oh yea I remember now..") I just couldnt believe the **** fitment and lousy customer service for a lt250 pipe I paid $800 dollars for!!!

sorry for the rant.... supposed to go riding with a decent size group to St. anthonys for the first time(im out of state) looks like I will have to wait until next time...

anyone else deal with this?

I didn't know anybody made pipes for the 250.  I thought fmf was our only option, and has served me well with trail riding. I'm interested in purchasing a pipe in the future cause my fmf looks like dodo. I guess I'd be willing to fork over $800 if he got this issue resolved and as long as I don't have to wait months and months. I'm sorry about your deal but at least now I know not to pay till the pipes done.

P.s. post some pics please. I've never seen a shearers 250 pipe. Thanks.

I finally have calmed down and got the fitment issues figured out. I put it in the lathe and turned down the flange some and the o ring grooves deeper. Not perfect but better. It at least goes in the pipe

Despite the annoyance of my fitment issues and my point of view of "bad customer service".  This pipe totally rips!! I had a fmf pipe that was on it when I bought it and that thing doesn't even compare to the shear pipe.  I wouldn't recommened getting it chromed by matt, Californias chrome sucks!

If you have a lot of money for a 250 pipe and a lot of patients I don't think that shears pipe can be beat as far as current production pipes!

Glad your happy with your pipes performance. I'm sorry to hear about bad experience. I personally have never had a problem with mat's customer service. He is always available to help or answer any questions and all my stuff has fit perfectly. In my opinion he is an awesome guy to deal with. I think if you have a problem you should have called the shop before posting a rant on the Web.  But that's just my 2 cents. Glad you like the pipe.
