Idle screw backed out all the way- bike still runs!
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:54:45 pm »
I was fiddling with one of my '86s trying to get it to idle correctly and I noticed I backed the idle screw all the way out and it was still idling.

Air leak?

Was it the brass air screw or slide  height  adjustment.

How tight is your throttle cable? Could be its adjusted all the way and then some and is causing the slide to not drop all the way

Try a fatter pilot or drop the clip on the needle to make it richer. If you have slide block height right and cant back down the idle with air screw your going to have to change the jetting or do a leak down test. Go to tech section and read Carl Bartletts  jetting post if you do what he says you will get your jetting right.

1/16 of a inch. Then you do everything with the pilot and air screw. Between 1 and 2 turns out on the air screw. I run 2 when its hot out and turn it in when it get cooler.
