The reeds are behind the boot where the carb goes. What year is the quad here.87 had 5 bolt reed and 88 to 92 had 6 bolts reed boot. Either their is  6 bolts or 5 bolts to take the boot off.Then the reed cage is behind them.You will have to have new gasket for the reed cage.But when they are out they should be flat against the cage .No holes or chips in them..If you dont know what they look like search ebay or some site to see what they look like.
