Rcomended reed cage
« on: December 22, 2013, 11:40:01 am »
I'm new at this and I am going ground up on this build. I need help or advise/ knowledge on what reed cage to use. Is the stock one fine or does it make a difference and what would it improve. please leave any info that might help. My dad owned one of these and knows quite a bit but not enough about the reeds. Its an 88 lt250r J model. Don't know if it makes a difference but I'm also putting on an fmf powercore full exhaust.

Skip the fmf exhaust. Spend a bit more and get better power results. V-force reed cage asm should be the way to go.
I make carbon case savers, and sprocket covers for a bunch of crazies that own ancient bikes, Wait, I have an ancient LT250 too!!!

What he said.  There are way better exhausts out there than a FMF.  FMF is a improvement over stock.  V-Force always has the best reeds.

V force 2 reeds if you can find some. The stock cage with carbon tech HT reeds is an improvement over stock, but The V2's are the best haven't heard much about the v3's yet. Stay away from the other reed cages. As for pipe the fmf isn't much better than stock. Get an SCP pipe you will love it no matter what style riding you do. Have the stock carb bored to 37mm. oh and  w+
If brains were gasoline, you couldn't power a **** ant's go-cart 2 laps around a cheerio.
