That's fairly common to see especially on a sleeved cylinder. But just cleaning up and rounding the boysen port area next to the sleeve will do that.
The little chunks are not missing per say, just ported away. Suzuki should of put a little more material there.

Can you tell from the pic what it may be ported for?  If its a midrange style porting I may use it if there is still life in the sleeve.  I ride trails so a top end type port is of no use to me.  The engine ran pretty good, case halves sprung a leak is why im tearing it down.  This is the engine I had you send back to me because of the big financial suprise I got slapped with.
