its strong and reliable. it dont have a high top speed but it gets there fast. it beats all the esr hondas i ride with out the hole but then they gain and blow my doors off. i was happy with ftz. they had pretty quick turn around. that was in 07 though. i heard they dont do atv very often anymore. just sprint cars. after carl done some work for me on my 91 im sold on bartlett racing for my 250's.

Hello!
I did the "long rod" on the 85-86.

You need an 88-92 rod, 85-86 lower rod bearing because the 88-92 uses a different size lower rod pin that won't work on the 85-86 crank.

Cometic gaskets makes custom spacer plates, you will need 2 "4mm" spacer plates.. unless they make an 8mm plate now.
If you use the 2 "4mm" plates then you will need 3 base gaskets.

The mod works nice and is reliable, I did the crank myself... so it saved me the shop labor.

It's kinda another option for these motors as it is a limited design to mod.

Joe

It runs great!
I did the mod a few years ago and it is still running without issues.
