« on: January 11, 2014, 01:38:54 pm »
Here lately everytime I choke the bike when its cold the idle been going really high let off the choke and idles just fine. Switch carbs to a new and still is doing it. Never down this before. Any suggestion to this

Yup mine does this as well when it's cold out. I only need to use the choke to start it if it's below 30°. Then it sounds like it's on a lean death note but once I drop the choke it's fine

My quad has never done this before. Even after it warmed up by 30 degrees. I mean it sound like it wants to run off. Before it would raise a little . But its insane by how much its raised.  Getting ready to do a leak down test in a few minutes.

The jet that regulates "choke mixture" is located in the float bowl at the bottom of the hole that  small brass tube hangs down into....  The small brass tube is the fuel pick up for the choke circuit.  Make sure the jet (it is not removable, it is pressed into the bottom of the hole) is not partially restricted.  A layer of varnish on the inside of the jet can make the jet behave like it is a much smaller jet.

You could enlarge the jet by increasing the diameter by .001" at a time until you get the choke mixture "right" for the winter temperature but might be too rich in the summer.
