So a couple months back my water pump started leaking from the weep hole, l opened it up to check it and the impeller was loose. So naturally I tried to tighten it. Upon doing so, as soon as I put pressure in the wrench the shaft snapped. Luckily I had an extra clutch cover with a good pump setup in it, I just had to track down where I left it. Finally found it this weekend, sounds great right? If only it was that easy! Once I put it on I found out the clutch wouldn't move. So clutch cover comes back off and the delightful sound of small metal pieces, which in that moment was the loudest sound I've ever head, arose. Upon further inspection I found for little needle bearings during on the clutch discs. After pulling off the pressure plate I found the pancake(?) Bearing only had one needle bearing left in it...Great. all the pieces were found but now I have to order another part. It can never be as easy as replacing just one part. If owning and maintaining one of these old beasts was easy I guess everyone would be doing it huh? Gotta love these old bikes lol.
Damn man! Lol,, that sounds about like my luck LOL
Always ALWAYS something,, cant never be nothin
You know it is reverse thread bolt on your water pump.
Yea I know, it was stupid loose, luckily I found it just as it started rubbing on the cover.
Damn money pits. But so fun when they are running.
Racecars are cheaper, not sure how that happened.
Get you a nice boat---than you will feel a lot better about your zilla not being a money pit-----or a bad marrage , now that could be a money pit---I wouldnt know though, I got me one of the good ones-- married 30 years and going strong. 8 different women---but 30 years total. LOL --joking--just one.

It could be worse. I sent my motor off to get rebuilt, and the builder said I needed a whole new motor. Lol I'd love to have your engine!

Ouch - that would be a huge let down.
Oh it is, but I got to thinking, and since I have an 86' that probably needs less work.... I might as well see if ice racer can just take care of this bike instead of the 88' I just bought. Hope there is still time before his season starts. I'm going to email him now.
