Thanks Chuckie - that's super helpful.  My screws aren't stripped yet so I'm hoping I still have a chance.  The two I pulled out with the spare actuator are in perfect condition so if I have to drill these out I'll still be OK.  Any tips for trying to get them out while I can still get a bite on them?  Impact drill?
