87 LT250r clutch won't disengage after oil change
« on: July 04, 2014, 07:45:00 pm »
I just got a 87 LT250r in a trade.   The previous owner lost the oil drain plug while riding because the threads were stripped  and out came all of the oil.   So I got a oversized oil drain plug from advance autoaand put in 10 40 motorcycle oil and the clutch was fine for a little bit but then all of a sudden the clutch wouldn't disengage.  Could this be because of using a different brand of oil from what was previously in it.     Any info would be greatly appreciated

did you take clutch cover off or did p/o, if so he might have not put the arm back on right.
where is the clutch arm at now. if you are sitting on bike arm should be around 9 o'clock.

and make sure that the drain plug is not longer than the oem one. it will hit gear in motor and not let
it turn over.

Never removed the cover.  It was fine for about 20 mins after oil change then it stoped  Drain plug was exact same length just oversized for stripped threads
