• Do you mean 2.84 inches?  To convert to inches.
  
  1inch = 25.4mm. 
  
  2.84 * 25.4 = 72.136mm
  
  This is assuming that is 2.84 inches. 
  
  
  Can you take a picture of the dial caliper?
