Selling (2) 250's or trade for Zilla
« on: March 12, 2013, 05:33:03 pm »
OU oh! Here he goes again. Some of you will remember me listing this at the old site a while back, but this time I’m not looking to get out of 2 strokes.
The wife has given me the green light to get a Zilla, but I have to part with both my 250’s. I am selling these together will all of the parts or I am willing to trade for a 500. I would consider adding cash with my bikes for the right 500. I know there isn’t too many people looking to trade their zilla for a pair of 250’s, but I wanted to give anyone here first shot. In a day or two I am listing this ad locally on Craigslist.
This is for everything together as a package, please don’t ask if I will separate parts, bikes or pieces.,

1985 LT250R
I’ve had this bike since 1994.
•   250cc with aggressive “top end” port
•   head milled and squish angle changed
•   FMF gold series pipe and FMF turbine core silencer
•   New Barnett clutch, stock basket replaced in 2011
•   Crank seals replaced 2012
•   New upper and lower ball joints in 2011
•   Mikuni TM38 Flatslide carb
•   Billet Aluminum RPM tapered roller bearing rear carrier
•   RS Lighting coil
•   Laser star lights (1 50watt spot, 1 50 watt flood)

I had it down at the Northwest Zillathon last year and I had some carb issues. I went through it after getting back home and found I had a bent jet needle. I just replaced the carb needle jet and jet needle and added a new carb slide and it runs good again.

1986 LT250R
I picked up this bike 2 years ago and considered making it my hybrid project, but it was too nice to cut up. I checked the bottom end of the motor and everything is fine. I took it all apart and cleaned and repainted everything. It is all complete and only needs the cylinder, a piston, rings, a few top end gaskets and an exhaust pipe and its running..
Not shown in pics is the gas tank, radiator, FMF gold series pipe.

The Extra’s
I have accumulated many parts and pieces over the years as spares.
These are all included.

•   Stock rear grab bar
•   (1) chrome and (1) black brake resevoir guard
•   (1) set of rear hubs
•   (1) stock coil
•   (1) Pro-design kill switch with tether
•   (1) rear brake stay
•   (1) stock emergency brake (clutch perch and rear brake pieces)
•   (2) cylinder heads
•   (1) throttle cable
•   (1) set of upper a-arms (left side is bent)
•   Graydon steel nerf bars
•   (1) brake lever
•   (1) clutch lever
•   (1) twist throttle
•   (1) set of front hubs
•   (1) set of front spindles
•   (1) rear brake light assy
•   (1) stock rear bearing carrier (no bearings)
•   (1) factory blue cap and hood
•   (1) factory black cap and hood
•   (1) 1989 left handlebat switch (engine-off/run) (lights-off/low/high)
•   (2) stock TM34 Mikuni carbs
•   (1) Keihin PJ carb (not sure of size)
•   (1) stock chrome headlight guard
•   (2) headlights
•   (2) sets of stock stick guards
•   (1) stock air box
•   (2) sets of rear wheel plates (came factory on 85’s)
•   (3) rear sprockets (2) 42T, (1) 44T- The 85 has 39T and 86 has 42T
•   (1) rear brake disc
•   (1) set of footpegs
•   (1) stock clucth cover
•   (2) half cases (not shown)
•   (1) set of chrome springs
•   (1) set of rear 10” wheels
•   (1) set of rear 10” wheels with (I think) 22: Realtors (not shown)
•   (1) stock swing arm (has crack at rear carrier and one near shock mount (fixable))
•   (1) stock chrome front fender brace

I also have all of the original purchase paperwork from the original owner. The original service manual and various paperwork and brochures that came with the 1985 when new.

I know I am missing some things but if your serious I can give you a full list.

I am asking $3000 or trade for preferably a 1987 LT500, but I am open to all years.
PM me if your interested. I won't ship, must be local or make arrangements to meet and pick up. I am willing to travel to a point.
If you need better descriptions or a close up of anything, just ask.

Thanks for looking guys

Why don't make the flamed wonder a hybrid? Sell all the other stuff including motors, buy pipe, 500 and engine mounts. You will love a hybrid, having just got one I won't be riding my zilla near as much. The hybrid is just way to fun...

I'm still thinking about that as well. I already have a complete 87 motor and a hybrid Q-pipe. I am just thinking buying or trading for a 500 is the easier way to go. I don't have to fab anything up, just get on it and ride. I may still change my mind.

Yep, it's a 73 Cuda.

I like that 87. If someone buys my 2, I will be checking Arizona's CL a lot, they have a lot of good deals down there.

man if you was closer i would be all over the flame wonder, that bike is truley amazing.
sad part is I would make it a bird.
but i think you should turn that 250 into a hybrid, i love the way the 250 feels over the zilla.
zilla is like a vw bug, and the 250 is like a camero. i think if you are on the bigger side of life then you need a 500.
other than that the 250 with a 500 motor is all that and some.. and then you get to keep both bikes. :)

I already called that dude with the HPR stuff ad it is not a entire HPR engine just a top end & pipe jerry did over 2 years ago and the dude is super stubborn, he won't deal at all, in fact that is the 3rd time he's had that thing listed and it still has not sold.

Thanks, it's a tough decision. Then I have some that comment to make it into a hybrid and others say don't ruin it. It would be fair to say I am really still on the fence.

Thanks for the heads up.

You could still make a really nice hybrid out of it. I can tell you have alot of time and money invested  in your quad. But that is probably the nicest  85 i have seen.

Thanks John,
I have a brand new hybrid pipe already and an 87 zilla motor.

Thanks,
The dilemma I have is that if I get a 500, I can tweak it to my preferences and I can hop right on and ride it and a hybrid costs more and takes time to build.

Dave this is a no-brainer!! keep the flamed wonder as is... and build a brid outta the other blue/yellow one... then you can ride the flamed wonder still, and it's kept in tact as one of the nicest lt250r ever!!
I recently acquired a complete Zilla motor and am regretting parting out my 250... I had a lot of nice parts for it and shoulda just made a hybrid... all I needed was the pipe  ???

Geeeeeez!!!!! Complete oposite corner of the world for me. What I wouldn't do to have a few days to take a road trip and snatch them up. Between trailer tires, fuel, and whatnot, that would be a $5000 trip :(

$3300, lowest I'll go. If it doesn't go, may have to separate everything and part out most of it.
Thanks for looking.
