I thought the same thing, but I took another look ... the bike has a flag. It's at a point where flags aren't seen until its too late.

Flags are required and we both had them, not that they helped in this case.

Yikes.  Technically, that is not a near miss, it would be a near hit.  A near miss == a hit.  :P

Had somebody tell me that when I was using it in a story.

Flags don't help anything unless you're on mostly flat ground.
They especially don't help when most of the time they're leaning back from wind resistance and gravity going up a hill.

True, flags don't really help duners, just income for the BLM :(
