Hello All, new to the forums and a new owner of a 500 that i just picked up over the weekend. I'm pretty stoked on the purchase, i've always wanted a quadzilla, but never had the means to buy one (life/family). With that said, this isn't my first quad, I've owned an 87 lt250r, 86 trx250r, ridden banshees/yfzs
I thought the 500 was an 87, judging by the manufacture sticker stating made 11/87, but i guess its an 88, it has 7 head studs and 6 bolt reed cage and tube upper control arms. Its going to need some work, but for a 400 dollar buy i figure it was worth the risk. Judging by the tread on the original tires, the motor did not last that long. I'm in the process of pulling the motor out and while reversing bolts out, the threading is still like brand new. So i assume this motor has never been rebuilt, but they managed to take side cases off and lose em.
The quad was my parents next door neighbor and they were pretty wealthy. They bought this quad brand new and next thing you knew, it was gone and just parked somewhere. they had two of them. they sold the other one which was in better shape.
I'm pretty stoked to see how this quad compares to my brothers yfz and banshee haha...

oh yeah here was my old 250r, miss it everyday haha...don't have any decent pictures of the lt250r, lets just say it was a roach haha
Very cool story, cant hardly wait for the nice step

For 400 bucks you did pretty good

Im all for builds that have a back story.
What a score for 400 bucks!
all stock?
Yes all stock everything as far as I know. Majority bolts are being removed for the first time ever haha it's pretty cool to see the original blue under the bolt flanges. I should have the motor out today if I have time.
A model that is cool in the desire to have a home.
