What carb is this?

Its a Mikuni, but a much larger size then any stock 250r carb that I have seen.
A buddy pulled it off of his bike and replaced it with a stock one because this was causing his bike to run lean. Is this thing worth keeping? and could I use it on my bike with it not running lean?
I have not measured it just yet but I will tomorrow.
Sorry about the junky pictures.

Looks like a stock 500 carb

Thanks,
That would definitely explain why his bike was running lean.
Is it even feasible to run this on a 250 motor? Or would it be overkill.

X2, looks like a stock 500 carb which is 38mm
Just jet it correctly and with a good air filter, pipe & reeds it should make your 250 run pretty good.

Well, guess I gotta talk to him about price and I'll be taking it off his hands.
How can I get this to fit into my reed boot? I have the Vforce reed cage should I cut out my stock boot or can you buy larger reed boots?

soak the intake boot in hot water. When its thouroughly heated,
stretch it over the carb. It's not easy but enough of us have done this.

Was your throttle cable long enough to work with the 38mm carb? I have ordered evwryrhing in to run the 38 carb, 500 intake boot, carb, 500 airbox outlet pipe, 250r filter. Also what about your fuel petcock, was the 250 big enough fuel line? Pics I have seen looks like the 500 has larger line.

I actually had a custom cable made from motion pro to fit the Honda throttle so I knocked it out with one go. pulls full open and slides nice and smooth. One thing I have always hated was gritty throttle cables.

Oh ok your running a 250r throttle? I have a motion pro twist throttle, I will see how mine fits. I think it should be long enough, i have slack around the steering stem, shouldn't need too much extra cable for the bigger carb.

nope, sorry I should of specified. Its a moose billet throttle for a 400ex. I don't believe that you need much people say that the stock can reach by shaving some threads off the cable adjusters but I feel this is a better way to go about it.

All Honda throttles use the same sized adjuster so no reason you could use the 250r on with cam in it which can open a 50mm carb with a little modifying.

Cheap and easy thing to do if you do run say a 450 or 400 housing is to put in the 90 lever it has a little better angle, and with a little to no grinding inside should open a tm38

Yeah my motion pro twist throttle cable is too short, barely. I set the slide height at 2.5mm and when I put the cable on it lifted the slide about 2mm more, also like skeans1 said its not smooth. You can feel the spring is "crunchy" in there. I honestly didn't really look to much into it but I'm pretty positive everything went together properly. I'm going to call motion pro and have them make me a cable also.
