Clean the outside with wd-40 or carb cleaner> Uninstall the choke using the nut on the outside. clean the parts in your hand and dont loose the tiny o-ring.Spray wd-40 through the open hole now. reinstall choke. >Next clean all other brass screws/adjusters and fuel bowl respectively.> now that the bowl is off spray out the inside.> check float height. reinstall fuel bowl> Finished
Takes 10 minutes in the dark w a can of wd-40. Believe me
I should add that there is no need to remove the cable from the slide. just remove both at once and wipe the slide off to reinstall.
Wd-40 or carb spray doesnt have enough pressure to blow a blockage out of the carb. Why would you use Wd-40 its a oil based product is made to lubricate stuff.
holy crap. its not a lubricant! its a cleaner read the label!
Not that I want to fuel the fire but kerosene and fish oil= wd-40. kerosene is a famous cleaner that slowly evapotates leaving very small amount of organic oil behind. It was first introduced to consumers as a distributer cap cleaner as it is hydrophobic and does not pass electricity.
**** waste my time....
please chill out on the language

Hey i made this video cause a couple people kept asking about how to clean carbs, They were new to the site or lt250r in general. It was quick video just how to.I didnt need to go in detail with the video, i just done what they were wanting.I really dont care what you have to say myself but you need to watch your language all i asked you why would you use it.People use it to lubricate stuff!!!!!Carb cleaner is cheaper anyways!
I remove all parts put them in berrymans for a few hrs clean them with a clean rag blow out the jets and scrub the exterior with a toothbrush dipped in the cleaner ( berrymans) and will even dip the whole carb for a minute and scrub. Your carb will look like brand new when done that stuff is a great carb cleaner. I think advanced auto carries it.
please read the discription on there website. pretty certain it says its a lubricant.
http://wd40.com/products/smart-straw/wd40 does not clean a carb well, not compared to dedicated carb cleaner. a gallon can of carb cleaner is the best way so you can soak the carb.
cleaning a carb should be done on a bench on a rag so you don't loose anything. doesn't help to drop the jets in the dirt if your trying to clean them.

Wd 40 I have always used that way myself.
A gallon of carb cleaner sweet! your AAALLLL set then!
Don't mind me< I know an lt500 that was carb overhauled in the dark in 10 minutes by myself, Starts first kick now. I used 100 ml of spray. We didn't have a gallon of carb cleaner to dunk the carb in like you. Im sure kerosene is overrated but I prefer it. Carb spray next.
Sblt500 I don't wish to argue over the wd-40 thing but it is a cleaner that has a small amount of mechanical lubricant.
Is it not possible that there is something other than carb cleaner on the entire planet? That is why im swearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't feed me your television viewing consumeristic the world is just too complicated cult fashion.
The world is not complicated at all. Peace out. im finished with this thread completely, however right or wrong I am.
Have fun here guys, let me know what you dig up. This thread is really going places you know.....
heres my gallon of carb cleaner availible at auto parts stores. well not a full gal
Thanks for keeping it chill.
I'm not sure on the differences between carb cleaner & brake cleaner, but some small carburetor manufacturers do not recomend the use of carb spray because they claim it is too harsh. Some companies such as Tillotson & Walbro recomend brake cleaner. But for my Holley's & Quadrajet's, nothing beats good ol Berrymans Chem Dip.
As for WD-40? Try Water Displacement... 40th formulation.
