also replace the o-ring and check the sleeve for grooves from the seal. might have to replace the sleeve/spacer also.
i say both o ring and the outer seal.
We had this problem years ago.
Find an oring that has a smaller inside diameter than the original and is also a little thicker so it fits more tightly around the shaft and you have to press a little harder to get the snap ring on the sprocket.
That sealed things up for us. No need for a new seal or spacer in our case. This happened to us when the quads were nearly new.
If I was to replace the seal would it require me having to split the case?
If I was to replace the seal would it require me having to split the case?
no, remove the sprocket and spacer, take a screw driver and pop out the seal, while not scoreing the case. clean out the bore. use a socket and tap the new seal in. put a little oil or blue loctite on the seal when you install it.
Finally got around to checking out the condition of the seal and its fine the oil was coming from the behind the o-ring so I put a thicker one on doesn't seem to be leaking anymore but ill have to wait till I get my new frame and swing arm before I can ride and really be able to....made a hell of a mess on the old frame and bottom of case from the dirt mixing with oil and sticking to everything
