Carb Rebuild Kit?
« on: December 22, 2013, 01:30:00 pm »
Hi Guys,

I need a carb rebuild kit for my 'racer as the previous owner let it sit too long with fuel in the carb and it's gone bad.

The trouble is that my floats are not freely moving up and down the guides.  None of the carb rebuild kits include these parts though.

Any recommendations?  Order the parts directly aside from the carb rebuild kit or...?

Thanks.

Sounds like some gummed up oil left over in the carb. Have you tried tearing it down completely per the manual and soaking all the internals in carb cleaner (minus rubber parts). That's what I did and everything worked fine when put back together.

Soak everything metal in carb cleaner.  Do not use any chemicals on the the floats!

ok, doing this now, thanks guys.

Do you trust the carb rebuild kits on ebay?  I have a tendancy to want to order the factory parts aside from the cost.

My floats were sticking a little and what I did was popped the yellow caps off, pulled the floats away and polished the rods up, dropped floats and caps back on. Good as new!
