Radiator scoop looks like a mud shovel to me! Looks like it would make a slide for mud to be slung right into my radiator.
I saw a post where Jerry said that these are an essential part of the cooling process. I literally had no idea they existed and do not have one on my LT. Im wondering how crucial they are, especially since I do a lot of trail riding at lower speeds. Im always nervous about overheating so Ill probably pick one up too for $20 lol.
Waste of money, just have your engine jetted right and you wont have to worry about anything.
I wouldn't worry about getting an air scoop.

More airflow THROUGH any size radiator or any radiator in any condition will result in cooler coolant temperatures. regardless of riding speed. Low speed riding does not get very much air THROUGH the radiator.

It probably will not help much if you spend very much time idling around in 1st gear. It will help it some but how much it will help depends upon you average speed over 1 minute.
just add a second radiator.

My average speed through trails according to my gps speedo on my phone was 40.1mph lol which was after I reset it after taking it up and down the road and hitting 91

Most of the guys that are having overheating problems.
I think they look cool anyways.
I dont mean to idle around so low, its just that the trails I ride are tight. Its not big open areas like a sand pit, dunes, or fields and its also not wide, well groomed trails like in maybe a state forest. Whenever I can I get on it but some of the big roots and rocks you just cant hit in 3rd gear or your gonna be into some trouble lol.

correct jetting isnt the only factor when considering cooling system design, a stock engine making around 40whp that is built to produce close to 80whp both jetted correctly will still have different cooling requirements.
el diablo: for our type of riding and dealing with the higher ambient temps (>37C) than most other parts of the country,so im with motogeek on that. more hp produced will put more heat into the cooling system that must be dealt with and since you arent running a larger radiator, anything you do to help cool the engine will be beneficial. also doing high speed rides to drag hills, running hard there, and riding back to vehicles will definitely testing the cooling systems.
There is someone running 70whp on a LT250R radiator.

Is it a drag atv, mx racer, duner? how long is it ridden at high rpms. If its a drag racing atv that doesn't represent desert riding bc it involves sustained high speed riding with ambient temps that exceed 37C. Drags last a few minutes total with a warm up, stage, run, get back to the pits and shut off/cool.
It is a hybrid with a stock 250r radiator. It is a trail machine, duner, dragger, mx quad.
