MY friend just acquired a 98 banshee that has a problrm with the front brakes sticking. They will work for very short time then the lever feels very very hard like its full pumped up. The brakes are fully engages/front wheels locked. if the bleeder valve in caliper is
**** slightly some fluid will come out and the brakes work fine until thever is pumped a few times then the same thing happens. any idea what the cause of this might be so I can try to fix it.. ...
i have had spongy brakes before but never a solid lever with locked brakes.
There are locating pins on the mounting bracket that the caliper is mounted to, I'd check if there's any grease allowing the caliper to float on the pins. Also check the pad mounting pins they become grooved from the pad after a while. A bent rotor will sometimes create enough heat for the fluid to expand making the lever fully firm and lock up the brakes.
im guessing the bleed off valve in the master cylinder is bad or has crap in it. my rear was doing the same thing. i rebuilt it and no longer does it.
Yeah, check the master cylinder.
The return valve isn't returning LOL
Thanks guys, we will work on it this week end. I will rebuild his master, new fluid and check slide pins and throw a hand full of grease on the calipers and pads.

LOL
