I'm thinking of parting with some of my precious stuff I recently cleared out of my garage to fund the upcoming ice season and would like some input.
1. How do you guys come up with your shipping quotes? Seems like the first thing asked when parts are even hinted at being for sale. Do you have boxes already lined up so you have a size and weight available?
2. Do you use different methods of shipping for certain items? As in Usps for smaller items, Ups or fedex for larger bulkier items. And is there advantages to one or the other? I just sent a medium box of engine internals 12 hours away and it cost me $30 through the post office. Seemed quite a lot to me.
3.and for the sake of conversation, does anyone have good stories about shipping whole quads frames, and plastics. My buddy just had a 250r shipped from Cali to NY with a lot of insurance for what I though was a crazy amount of money.
And feel free to chime in on helpful packing techniques.
If it will fit in a USPS flat rate you can't beat them.
Frames, greyhound is cheapest little bit of a pain but works.
And fed ex. Really its a pain in the ass.

Yes, they will ship large parts, but you have to take it to them and pick it up from them. It's way cheaper to use them for stuff like frames.

Yeah tell me about it. Took 2 trips to the post office after the flat rate box left my Hinson basket too close to the edge of the box for my liking
I've gotten 2 frames shipped to me via USPS. Honestly they are the best IMO. I haven't used Greyhound yet but I like USPS. I sent a NOS Nasa +6 ATC185S to a buddy in Cali in the original box. I put $700 worth of insurance on it and it still only cost me like $35.
I used FedEx for shipping the 110 motor bak and forth and they were over priced and the box was tore up bad. Plus I think I'm one of the lucky ones whose chit didn't get torn up because a couple buddies have had some baaadddd taste left in their mouths after having crap broke and then not reimbursed for it.

I can tell you if I get stuff shipped from you guys in the US to up here North of the border USPS seems to be the best.No problems and the most reasonable even though still pricey.UPS is the worst hands down up here even shipping within Canada.Getting stuff from out of country UPS plain sucks @ss with all the charges.F,n hate UPS with a passion.
I use trained carrier pigeon's and donkeys. Kinda slow but cheap and they'll eventually show up.

95% usps. pretty much everything outside the us goes usps. They can get it there quick! about 60% of my sales are outside of the us, they are a real godsend for me. All of my parts are super light so i just go priority mail or parcial post. (no flat rate) only 2 issues over the last 3 years, not too bad considering some of the addresses i get.
