Looked on Maier USA for plastics and went under fender set closeouts today and ordered a set of yellow plastics for $295 shipping included !
they are selling certain plastics cheap the lady had informed me they are trying to clean out some inventory. she said they were the last lt 250 yellow
plastics . so maybe somebody can find themselves a good deal also . also i have a lrd silencer on my quad and it seems as if i have the signature burn
through hole that i see on many lt's with aftermarket silencers ,is there a fix for this before i put new plastics on ? has anybody experimented with automotive exhaust tape and if so what were the results.and would my oem hood (grill) work with maier plastics or go with a fresh maier hood and cap? lots of questions any info would be great! thanks mike
the burn is from the pipe not mounted right, or the maier fenders not in the right place.
you can put some heat tape on inside of fenders to help protect them, or mount everything up
and you will see how much movement you will have by twisting silencer or moving plastic foward.
On my hybrid I have Maier plastic. I have a burn spot from the silencer tube right where my left leg touches the plastic. I saw it after my first ride and put some sticky, high heat resistant tape on the inside of the plastic. The burn bubble hasn't gotten any bigger since.
Mine haven't burnt through yet but I do have a big black oil stain from a small crack in the silencer. I have my rear plastics pushed as far forward as I can though.
My old plastics had that silver exhaust tape on them in the bend
try using small zip ties under overlapping plastic to help make the maier plastic fit better. I only did it on the front it really helped. When i get new plastics, i'm gonna do it everywhere.
Thanks for the info guys I will try the heat tape and zip ties!
there should be enough play between silencer and head pipe that will give you enough room so it wont burn.
i messed up on my new plastic and i got a small burn spot on the back side of my plastic. but after moving
plastic and mounting silencer there is a good gap between them now.
but the heat tape or maybe a exhaust wrap might help even more.
Q2W any pics I would like to see how you did this?
Sorry for anybody who was interested in checking out where I had gotten the plastics
I did not put correct site name . Jlatv.com then went to maier plastics ,good close out deals!
