Looking for feedback on having some work done. I have 2 zillas to build, both need crank rebuilds and head studs done. Want to have the heads chamfered and carbs bored. I've talked with Duncan racing about doing the work. Anyone had any experience with them? Or should I just send it to dr q or hpr? I'm looking for good power but nothing wild on one. The other is all out... what about the 540? What does it consist of? Any info would be appreciated.
I just had Duncan rebuild my motor last fall. Had them do the crank bearing inserts, rebuild the crank, new stator, hinson clutch, modified the flywheel, new shifter shaft, and new shifter forks. Basically the bottom end is all brand new and ready to go for years to come. I had them also powder coat the engine cases while it was out there. They are truly a professional shop. The attention to detail was fantastic. Can't say enough good things about the work they did.
Multiple people out there. Like you already stated Q and Hall. Iceracer on here, Pete Schemberger, Mat Shearer to name a few others.
Thanks for the feedback so far. My biggest issue is that I took my crank to someone local and they didn't get it true. I've tore it back down and wasn't sure who to send it to. I've used Duncan in the past, but not for engine services. I just want to know that when I assemble this time, everything is right and will be reliable.
Duncan Racing will do fine work rebuilding. But if you're looking for performance, they are not the company to use.
