Is there anything I should know about these year zillas or in general ,is there anything interchangeable from any other bike known problems etc ....
They won't let me post pics
Welcome!
you'll need to use a hosting site like imgur to post pics.
Lots of known problems with these bikes. Best bet is search the forums as best as you can. Lots are stickied.
As far as jetting, what's in the carb now?
170 main jet ,62 pilot jet , needle clip is moved one up from middle clip so second to the top this is how it came ,it's a keihin carb
62 pilot seems really big compared to your main. -quick observation not knowing your elevation, air box setup, porting, if carb has been bored, etc.
I ran that carb a long time ago. was bored to 41mm with an open airbox and mild porting at about 800ft and if i remember right i ran a 58/185.
You said it was doggy down low, my first hunch is you're rich on the pilot.
Will the bike idle? A quick test to see if your pilot is the right size is by adjusting the air/fuel mixture screw. (NOT the big thumb screw with the spring on it. It's a small flat head screw) Set the air/fuel to about 2 turns out. Start the bike and if it wont idle adjust it CW 1/4 turn a time. If you get below 1 turn out and the motor still hasn't held an idle, your pilot is too large. Put a size smaller pilot in and start the process over.
I'm at about 1600ft stock airbox with NO lid ,the jug got ct engraved on the sides ,carbon fiber reeds ,cool head .the kid I got the bike from sayin that it was built by cpe racing top and bottom said bored over honestly I think he is a load of
**** he tryin to make it sound good because I traded him a beautiful running yamaha banshee .
yea, anything over about 1200ft will need to downsize the pilot. I think that's a great place to start. buy few smaller pilots and start stepping down from 62 until she spins like a top. good luck!
She still start 1 kick but I fill like the throttle ain't where it need to be ,I will def start there tho thank you
What needle are you running?
I really can't tell the markings are all rubbed off
What needle should I run for the keihin carb
What's a good needle jet to get
The Keihins don't have a changeable needle. Most guys find the DGH needle works well on the 500's.
That's good to know I would have tried to put needles in this bike for no reason ,thanks again I'll let you know how it turns out p

I meant to say the Keihins don't have changeable needle jets.....The needle that goes through the slide is changeable and most run the DGH needle.Sorry for mistype.
No prob that was my fault i was meaning the needle that go thru the slide thanks imma order one
