Well, I just bought a pair of 05 YFZ450 front shocks for 170 and a camber shims kit for 54. I'm already spending money on my bike and I just got it three weeks ago lol. Now, if only it would stop snowing and freezing up, I can start messing with the old Zuk just in time for riding. Thanks to this forum, I know what works and how to do simple mods to make the old Zuk handle better. Hoping I can get a graphics kit designed too, so fingers crossed.
Might want to look up the user ddrslapp on those graphics. He makes very high quality exact replica kits. I have his email information if you want it. Pm me for it if your interested.
Here's the plastic after sanding for hours. I'm almost there, just got to fine-sand it some more before I use the . FYI, don't heat up one area for so long. Otherwise, the plastic will feel wavy

I don't know, a heat gun would work, just takes a little patience. Now, I'm thinking about asking my buddy who has a LTZ400 and see if his plastics will mount on to the LT250R. Why, you ask? Well, because I like the sleek racy look and the LTZ has buttloads of graphics kits for them....I like flashy graphics. I don't know, my plastics are a little rough and I don't want to buy new plastics from Maier. I can make my plastics look way better than they did before but I would like something more modern that's easy and cheaper to replace.
Keep the lt250 plastics dude. Z400 plastics will disgrace your quad.
I've seen z400 plastics on a lt before a guy on Facebook did it. All he ever took were pretty far away shots of the quad so you couldn't really see any details of it but he said he just used lots of zip ties so to me that's no good. Maybe you could do it cleaner and make it nice though, he didn't use a headlight quad was kinda beat so the plastics didn't do themselves justice lol.
I'd like to use the original plastics. I just wish I could find some bitchin graphics for it so I can not only have a sweet look but also protection as well. I just can't go with plain old yellow and blue. I've already asked two graphics companies about doing the Zuk and they don't have the template for it. There are some more companies I haven't asked yet, so hopefully one of them can do it. I noticed that the template on the Can-Am DS450 is pretty similar to the Zuk, at least the front is. I want full coverage, not just stickers because they're not as durable and will leave an imprint on the plastics. I know this because I know what all the stickers the previous owner slapped on and take forver to sand off.
Some dude from Suzuki central put LTZ400 plastics on his 85 LT, it's not a bad job. My only thing is that his LT seat overlapped the plastic but it's a 85 seat. I'm guessing the 85 seat is taller and wider than a 88. The noticeable difference is the t-shape on the 88. I'll just keep asking around about the graphics and probably still see if my buddy will let me look at his LTZ plastics. There's always the 400EX plastics too, but I might

Well, I got my yfz front shocks and camber shims in today. I'm so anxious to start working on the bike, but the weather in MO is very bipolar -_-
Well, I'm done with the plastics. Looks better than before but not perfect. I'll just slap some graphics on them and be done with it. I'll get some new plastics someday if I do a complete restomod. I did some trimming on the rear fenders because I had a couple of cracks on the edge and I knew they were just gonna get worse

Thanks, I think I'll just get a whole bunch of stickers for it for now. The plastics are okay, at least there aren't anymore black spray-paint and wire-wheel marks on it from the previous owner. I think I'll save the custom graphics for brand new plastics when I go over the whole bike during a later winter in my nice, heated garage....if only that was a reality
