So I have a rear carrier that has stripped out holes for the chain adjuster studs. Thinking of using 5/16 threaded rod and retapping the holes. Anyone have any tips or tricks before I have at this thing ? I figure a heli coil won't do the job cause you are pulling the carrier with the studs.
I've been thinking of drilling and retapping and making my adjuster stud holes for a larger size as well. Hopefully someone can chime in and let us know about if this is a good idea
go bigger studs, gonna have to tap holes to new size, and drill out adjuster plate to fit bigger bolts,
or have them welded up and tap back to stock size.
gotta stay away from rocks, thats what will bust them off. the rear skid bumper protects that from happening.
Don't believe I have ever saw a carrier with stock size studs... Just make sure you drill straight
But can I buy bigger studs anywhere that are long enough I know exhaust studs from o auto parts storeare not long enough quess I can try Fastenal
Tractor supply sells big studs.
Cool! Thanks guys. I will let you know how it comes out
I used allthread on my 250 carrier
