RM250 in LT250R Chassis
« on: April 12, 2016, 02:25:49 pm »
HI guys im new here and just recently bought my 91 LT250R.  Only problem with it is I bought it as a roller.  That bein said Ive searched every local ATV salvage yard and craigslist add and nothing.  Seems as though the LT250s and LT500s for me are like tryin to find an original 426 HEMI.  Ive been reading that the RM swap has been done and Im finding them pretty frequent.  Ive also read that they vibrate to the point of **** frames and mounts.  Question is is there any way around this?  frame/mount gussets?  Im just kinda trying to find another alternative if need be.  Any and all help is appreciated.

You make your own counter balancer like this guy:

Having a bike you don’t ride is like having a girlfriend you don’t bang so it’s nice and tight for the next guy.

Maybe try putting want add on here for a motor. Even a motor that needs an overhaul should be available.. I have found plenty on Craigslist but I also search every state for parts.. I think the Kawasaki kx500 is a dirtbike motor that has a counterbalanced. But I have been wrong before, also those r probably more rare to find than a ZILLA motor. Again I would just do some searching on Craigslist and find one. Have it shipped if need be. For the amount of work to get a banshee motor to fit and work you might as well just buy a banshee. They are everywhere and can find them for cheap.

The 500 engine on a 250 has been done right here on this web site.  Many have probably done it.  That should make for a nasty quad since the 250 is very light and you still got the power of the 500!

The kx500 wasn't counter balanced the only 500's bikes that are counter balanced are a lt500 or a trx250r with cr500 top end or a saber top end and one conversion kfx250 tecate 4 bottom end with a kx500 top end.

Hello,
I am currently involved in a TRX/ZILLA build.
I have placed the engine so it will accept my V-1 Q pipe.
It is a lot of work. My head hurts.   (Y)

Anything can be accomplished with enough time and or money.

If you have the technical knowledge and equipment you could do like the Australian guy did with the CR500 engine and build your own counter balancer.

The KX 500 was not counter balanced like Skeens said.  Installing a KX500 top end on a counter balanced Tecate bottom end is a option.  To do it "right" a different counter balancer should be made when doing this or installing a Saber on a TRX250R bottom end.  The Saber on a 250R bottom end still vibrates but not as bad as it would if it did not have any balancer.

Some guys have installed the Saber on the TRX250R using the 250R counter balancer but I do not know of anyone that is using a Saber for anything but drag racing.

There was one Saber set up for mx but I'm not sure whatever happened to it and then there's a dune mini tooth 250r motor that has been built.
