Hybrid project 2019
« on: February 04, 2019, 03:16:59 pm »
I just picked up a 91-92 semi complete roller. I am tossing around the idea of doing a hybrid or a big bore 250. Like a 290cc or better.
The Zilla motors are getting really hard to come by, so a BB 87-92 motor for the right price might be what I do. I want to build a good all around light mx and trail bike.
I already have a stock 500.
I also have a lot of yfz parts lying around.  The stock a arms can be made to fit the 250 chassis with some mods, but are there any better late model quads that have a better matchup?
I am definitely going wide with this build.
Btw, I scored the roller for less than $200.😎
Thanks

I vote for the hybrid.  The power and sound of a 500 is what's up.

Hybrids are awesome...I much prefer mine over the 500 I had,Zilla chassis just felt bulky for some reason.......That said I'd go Big bore 250,Think Carl does a 310...Especially since you already have a 500.........Always wanted to see how a maxed out 310 would haul the mail.
Can,t fix stupid.:)

Really torn on this one. Need to find a motor, and I dont wanna tear out my 500 to put in this project.
If I'm gonna do it, I'm all in.
Need to find the post about how to mod the frame, and I think I need to use flipped 500 a arms or aftermarket to clear a hybrid pipe if I remember correctly.

Definitely need different A-Arms or the left tire rubs on tighter turns...I went with metal tech arms on my hybrid.......Some slight mods to the frame and you can use S&B hybrid mounts.
