03 z400/ lt500 hybrid
« on: November 22, 2014, 01:20:25 pm »
Has anyone done a 03' z400/lt500 hybrid? How easy is it? Will the motor swinger and frame line up?   I have an opportunity to get a full z400 - motor   And I happen to have a complete 500 motor ready for a new project. Just getting feedback before I commit.

I've seen this one but it has an aftermarket swinger so it could have been customized to the needs of the frame and motor

The z uses a larger swing bolt nothing lines up on these. If you want to do a nice handling swap use a trx 450. Same size swing arm bolt. Will be able to use a standard swing arm. Much easier and better handling Imo z 400 rate rite up there with raptor 660s like riding a bar stool racer.

Thanks Carl. I can pick up that z400 for under 1k. With aftermarket swinger, stem and a arms complete roller no motor. But I think I'll hold out. I really wanna do a 250r fourtrax /lt500 next but waiting for the right deal.

If you can lower the front end on the z a bit i very much so disagree with Carl I think they handle pretty darn good out in the woods at least.
