Types of 2 stroke?
« on: January 26, 2016, 08:14:49 am »
I'm new here. Just an 88 250r. Ive ran klotz in previous 2 stroke bikes and castor. Klotz seems too thick and you gotta be on the throttle 24/7 or it bogs. Castor works good though. Any thoughts on other brands? Or different. Ways to mix klotz?!

Ya, it isn't your oil that is causing that issue.

Premix your Klotz at 32:1. Then jet it correctly.

Like ZF said, Klotz should be fine.  Likely a jetting issue.

Maybe. I used to run it in a 92 wr250. If id let it idle before a hillclimb I'd have to crack it open a couple times to clear it out then hit it. Castor eliminated that problem for me. But I'll go back to klotz. You think 32:1?? Klotz smells good too!

32:1 is fairly typical.  More radical motors run 24:1.

Here's a picture of it. Picked it up last weekend. Traded an 03 warrior 350 for it. Brakes were a little soft on the lt but that's all. Good deal??

I mix 32:1 in my 85 lt250r  . She starts within  3 kicks cold first kick hot.  Has 186 pounds compression.  Look into cleaning the carb and if the motor is in stock trim.  jet to stock specs. I run amsoil dominator.   Watch what you ask for on here.   an oil question usually brings out more opinions than stating your political  views.

"an oil question usually brings out more opinions than stating your political  views."

Now that's funny (and true)!
And with that being said...
I tell my customers that I like (in order):
Torco-GP-7
Red Line
Klotz R-50
Maxima SuperM or any other synthetic.
All at 32:1
I don't use Dominator but I agree that it's a fine oil at 50:1
Go Trump!

As far as the 32:1  i have been mixing that way since i had the motor rebuilt.    I  rebuilt  the carb and tuned it on fresh motor screwed new plug in and the same plug is still in it.  I can putter with my kid on it  push some air through  her nose kick him off and  go 4 strock hunting. It runs perfect.

Ya, did you happen to catch the comment that Trump said about Sanders at one of his rallys? Trump actually defended Sanders from the establishment & super delegates.

I believe we need a man who says what he thinks.  A business man, who's already acquired a fortune.  That type of person could get us out of debt.  I'm rooting for trump everyday.  Even if he is going bald. Haha

what were you thinking, you thought that what type of premix oil to use wouldn't cause issues? you just had to bring up politics.

I always ran 24:1 Klotz Benol/ VP M1 (methanol). Jetted the carb. Never had an issue. I've read about people running 100:1. All depends on how it's built, what's the motor intended use and how it's jetted.
