your yfz IMO is almost stock and if it still beat the renegade, then it didnt do so well. an ltr450, with a pipe and cherry bomb plug will easily beat a yfz with those mods listed, ive owned both at the same time so im not just talking out of my

im just glad to hear that the renegade didnt smoke you!
I've beat every LTR I've raced with my YFZ the LTR's are pretty heavy bikes for the 450 class. 370 pound bike vs 414 pound and the most horsepower you're gonna get on a stock bore and stroke 450 is about 65hp(unless your on a bottle). YFZ's with just having a CT pipe dyno at 48hp. I'd say mine is roughly close to 50hp

it's not going to get blown out of the water by any other bolt on 450...I'm not saying it wont lose. I personally love the early model 450's they're lighter! I do not have the YFZR those are just as heavy as an LTR. BTW I've beat LTR's with full pipe's and the cherry bomb back when I was running the GYTR set up one of my friends has that exact set up.
Im with Nassty, I know a piped and jetted YFZ (not a R) will outrun a LTR with the bomb and pipe.
Happens every year since 2005 when I go to the dunes!!
I forsee a YFZ vs LTR match coming up real soon.
Idk what's wrong with the LTR's you guys are racing, but my 07' easily walks my buddy's piped and jetted YFZ and my bro's KFX. All I've done is remove the airbox lid and pea-shooter, and add a bomb. I'm running 20" rears with the stock gearing too, so I imagine I'd beat em even worse if I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket.
I got the cherry bomb & yoshimura rs-5? & air filter & race gas. That thing goes pretty good. But when it just running premium I can tell

The pipe makes a huge difference! and if you're jetted correctly! but yeah just this last oct. I raced a brand new LTR with a yoshi pipe and pulled 3 bikes by the end of comp hill. I also raced a 09 YFZR and beat him worse than the LTR. At Glamis this last weekend I walked away from 2 450r's and a modded DS650(happened to be my brother) But maybe they didnt have their bikes dialed in very well such as paddles and suspension. The CT sonic pipe for the yfz is CRAZY the power over the GYTR is rediculous!
-The DS 650 has the following mods-Ported intake manifold,High compression piston(12.5-1), Ron Woods intake, HSR 45 carb, dropped one tooth in front sprocket, full big gun exhaust, and dynatek CDI programable.
-Renegade 1000 has the following mods- HMF full exaust, programmer, and a sand racing clutch.
The two bikes were dead even! My YFZ took them both.
My bro's KFX was stock, but I don't remember what pipe my buddy's YFZ has on it. Pretty sure it's not a CT. We raced in a hay field, so paddles and suspension weren't an issue.

That makes me feel pretty good about my lil 250QR whoopin up on piped/jetted YFZs that my buddies ride. Especially since they were at my rear tires.
Nice! haha that's pretty awesome that you're 250 is beating down 450's!
Just certain ones, not all by any means. But the ones I am whippin, ohhh hells yeah its awesome!!! lol And the 450s that are faster....if they slip up in the littlest way, then they end up bein a laa-who-sir as well...lol. And the CT 310Rs that I run dead even with.....yeah, 1 slip up and we go from dead even to me in front. She runs good for just havin a pipe...hehehe
Rat, is your 250 back together? Are you going to make the spring ride at Little Sahara?
Nopick.....umm, what was the question?? lol.....its still tore apart.
i raced a outlander 800 in aprox. 600ft pavement, i beat it of the line and won with around a 5-6 bike lead. this was with a aaen pipe v3 reeds 41m carb
Are you guys aware of the alternate efi mapping on the LTR? Buddy had it done to his along with the reg slip on mods and it make a LOT of difference.
Suzuki got in some heat for having the alternate mapping on the LTR so it probably won't be available on future production runs.

Sounds like your describing the 'cherry bomb' plug in module......
I don't think so. The alternate mapping is already on the efi chip. If it was a aftermarket item, Suzuki would not have gotten in trouble. Local tuner plugged in and accessed the alternate mapping. It does not pass emission tests with this alternate mapping.
That's the Yoshimura Cherry Bomb, or I think the dealer can access the alternate map.
The hot mod for the LTR was to pull the plug out of the stock exhaust and use the Cherry Bomb for the alternate fuel map (maybe ignition too?).

Still waiting on a clutch basket....I should be good to go by the end of the month....right about the time it should be hot n nasty....lol
